March 5, 2012

on going steady with freddie

Ladies and gents, today is a special day. Yes, it is ten days before the Ides of March and yes, it is the week before my spring break and why yes, it most certainly is 4 months and 10 days before my birthday. While these are all thrilling events, none of these things could even compare to today being a year since I went on a first date with a dude named Freddie (friend). Oh great, here she goes again. Didn't she just post about Freddiefriend on Valentine's Day? Uh, guess what? This is my blog and I can blog about whatever my little heart desires. (Which is pretty obvious from my cowlick, furry vest, and obsession with chocolate posts).

Where do I even start? I mean, it's not like I am some relationship expert about to publish my first book and decided to blog about my lurve advice. I am the farthest thing from a relationship expert, but here are some words of the wise from me to you. Because yes, I am a very wise non-relationship expert.

Life happens and a lot of the time people (me) tend to focus on the negative things or get mad about stupid things. Hey, sometimes it is over legit things though, okay? The overall point---remember how great relationships are? They are kind of all around us. Friends, acquaintances, classmates, professors, moms, dads, siblings, boyfriends, girlfriends, employees, bosses, etc., etc. You know the list. Life is short and it really does fly by (when you're having fun!) so why not make the best of it? Why not tell those people that you love just how much you love them instead of spending most of the time being all grr to them? Unless they deserve the grr-ness, of course. But anyways, remember my FF and my year anniversary with my FF? Yeah, so about that...

A year with Freddie has gone by in what feels like a blink of an eye. Sometimes when I am feeling all giddy and Eeeee! Freddie! I am like Geeez, I am still feeling like I did way back in last March?! Awesome. In the end it was the little things that FF did that got me. Hooked me. Made me fall head over heels for this guy. Little things like the nonchalant grab of my knee on rides in that yellow Jeep. Or a kiss on the forehead. Or a good morning text with lots of exclamation points and emoticons. Or driving to Newnan and sleeping in my brother's old room just to spend a weekend with me (and the entire Moore family). Or standing in my kitchen making pizza for me and my family. The fantastic laugh and hot dancer legs were a big bonus. Seriously, this guy makes me smile bigger than the Cheshire Cat. I knew I was hooked during one of our first dates. We sat in Candler Park eating King of Pops and watching people try to play golf. It was a perfect day and I would have been perfectly happy to just sit there by the FF forever. (P.S.--the next weekend he came with me to set up music at my sister's high school dance and then went to see Black Swan with me. No protesting. He had me. And everyone around me.) I try really hard to steal all of his free time. Sometimes to the point of where I am sure he's like Uh, remember that time I had friends and no Emily? Maybe you should stop being so awesome if you don't want me to take all of your time.

The point of this story blog?
Freds, you are my absolute favorite. Even above complaining. (what? I don't do that.) Even above peanut butter M&Ms and gummy candy. This year has been so much fun, especially the times when you tried to teach me math or we made pasta from scratch. F-U-N fun. Thanks for taking me on a date a year ago and then continuing to take me on dates and laugh at my stupid jokes n' stuff. I love you and every single day of the 366 days I've gotten to be with you! (Heck yes, leap year!) Well shucks y'all, insert some more gushy sappy stuff because it is all true when it comes to this man.

ready for some creepy cutesies couple-y pictures?

blogiversary

One year ago I created and posted my first blog post. It was really captivating and people everywhere flocked to mlemoore.blogspot.com to get some Yippee! It's MLE! action.

true or false?

Okay, so maybe not completely true. It was exactly a year ago. That part is true. And I know my family reads it so that means some people flocking to it. Just work with me here, okay?

Usually on an anniversary, especially one as important as this, you exchange gifts and do special things and talk about how much has changed in whatever amount of time has passed. Blog, my gift to you is this post and all the ones after it. Aww, lucky! The special thing I am doing is posting TWICE in ONE week. Aww, double lucky! As for what has changed since that first post oh so long ago? Well, let's see...

  • My hair got longer. And my bangs grew out. And my dark color grew out. (this is #1 for obvious reasons like, it really is the most exciting thing to happen. ever).
  • I am back at school. Writing papers! Reading, reading, reading! Dancing (and dying)! Yay yay!
  • I now have the best Freddiefriend. (meaning, I have a Freddiefriend who is the best).
  • I was in a movie. Starring, obviously. Ever heard of the Footloose remake? Ever heard of the Footloose remake with Emily Moore's face in it? Coming to a theater near you on October 14.
  • Ann started driving and having a social life and being all popular pants.
  • My mom joined (after being a servant woman/HALFWIT for many, many, many weeks) an improv group at the community theater in Newnan. SO basically, my mom is on Whose Line Is It Anyways: Newnan Edition.
  • I ran a 5K. I mean, I ran two of them. Lawhammercy, can you believe that? I can't. Forget you people that run 26.2 miles. Forget. You.
  • I got my first cavity. And discovered these wonderful things called Peanut Butter M&M's. Coincidence?
That's about it. Nothing else changed.
kidding. I'm sure like one more thing maybe changed...

Anyways, oh dear blogsies of mine, Happy One Year! And here's to many more years and many more (super exciting and wonderful) postings! Yippee!

Learn (ing) Something (s)

Now that I have kept my blog updated a little better(...), I have been slacking on my Learn Something posts. Whoopsies. I'll get the science of blog-estry down eventually. Sounds like I need a few more classes before I can graduate with that degree.

This week's learnings:
  • Choosing a favorite Parks and Rec character is next to impossible. Seriously, you try it because I bet you can't pick just one. Ron Swanson? Oh but wait, I really want a piggy bag ride/shoe shine from Andy. But then there's always Tom--who doesn't love Tom? Lemme get some LL Cool Aide.
  • Half off Easter candy magically just tastes better than that regular priced stuff.
  • Prince William went by Will Wales in college. He and Kate were both studying History of Art (which is a fancy way of saying Art History, duhh) and later became roommates with two other people. Thank God for TLC pre-wedding specials.
  • Even though it was their wedding day and she was marrying a Prince and everyone was outside screaming (and we were all inside screaming everywhere else in the world) Prince William and Kate must have been harshly threatened and told not to smile. How do you not smile while you're getting married?! To the prince?! Or to a gorgeous girl?! On live TV?! Give us something to work with, y'all. We only got up at an ungodly hour for this fest of stoic-ness. Sheesh.
  • I sang along with all the hymns so it definitely felt like I was there. Minus the whole actually being there part. Minor details, people. We're still talking about the Royal Wedding, try to follow along.
  • I do not do a good job comforting little children when they are shaking with fright and there are tornadoes nearby. Because I too am shaking with fright. Solution? Cuddle up and watch Disney channel. Loudly.
I tried so hard to steer clear of the Royal Wedding madness, but whatcanIsay. I'm human. (And female!) And it's a wedding. And yes, I learned so much from it.

Kate, thanks a lot for stealing my dress.

Also, BIG NEWS. Even bigger than the Royal Wedding. Are you ready? My last post was the 50th post. 50! How did I miss that? I needed some big party for my blog with Over the Hill balloons and canes and light up crowns. Blog, I am so sorry I missed celebrating your 50th. Can we make up for it with your 51st?
Happy 51st! Let's go for 51 more.
