January 1, 2012

twelve rhymes with shelve. and delve.

2012 snuck in on us last night around midnight(ish) and it is already looking like a good year. Hopefully you all did wonderful things today since these things are what you will be doing for the rest of the year. I ate a cheeseburger today so I guess I will be eating cheeseburgers all year. High five.

Everyone keeps listing all the wonderful things that happened to them in 2011 so I am going to list all the horrible things that happened to me.

Just kidding.
Nothing horrible ever happens, duh! I could only think of shiny happy moments from this past year so a shiny happy list is what you get.

In January, we survived an ice storm. It was icy and cold.

In February, I ran my first 5k. And I'm still alive to tell you about it. That is doubly exciting and impressive--3.1 miles is a lot, okay? Except for all the people that run 3 miles on their off days. I don't like you people.

In between running and driving on ice, I got to nanny some really awesome kids. I also learned how to juggle watching four kids, helping with homework, making lunches, changing diapers, cleaning messes, and oh yeah, having fun.

In March, I went on a date with a guy named Freddie and fell for his contagious laugh and dancer legs.  FreddieFriend was like totally the best thing of 2011 in my book.

July brought along lots of excitement. We survived the Great Thunderstorm (and fireworks show!) of July 4, 2011 with only super wet clothes and quilts and shoes and etc. I also celebrated my birthdaymonth even though I turned a redundant not-so-exciting age. Can I rent a car already?

In August (after a short pausesies), I began my senior year of college. This will be a lot more exciting when I make my best of 2012 list and can say I finished college. what whaaaat.

In September, we celebrated Freddie's birthday and then I got my first speeding ticket.  (and then in October I peed my pants with nervousness about the most ridiculous court experience ever. Why would they call my name FIRST?).

2011 ended with a Christmas trip to Disney. Which happened to be my third trip to Disney in 2011. Life is hard. Joseph, please don't stop working there for at least a few more years.

2012 has a lot of unknowns. What am I doing after graduation? What box Where will I be living? Will my fall semester grades really come out on January 3? Who makes you wait until a whole new year to get your grades?! The good thing is that I am certain it will be great no matter what because my horoscope says so. Oh and because I have a great family, friends, Freddie, and other words that start with "F" in my life!

2012, you mysterious year you, let's see what you've got.

Happy New Year!

December 6, 2011

clap your hands, stomp your feet

It's that time of year again...

CHRISTMAS!!

...but that is not what I am talking about. I'm talking about the time when I make a happy list. Between finals and papers and a lot of too much Christmas candy eating, I think it is the perfect time for a happiness list. Let's get happy!

  1. Almost being done with school. Let me tell you, I only have one final left and a) I have gotten really good at finding things to do other than study and b) it hasn't hit me yet that this semester is purty much doneso. Yo.
  2. All TLC shows. TLC, how do you know the ways to grasp and maintain all my love and attention? Now if only you could erase all commercials...
  3. Making Christmas trees with my Christmas tree maker app. What whaaaat! Fun for all! Want me to e-mail you my latest creation?!
  4. Having multiple end of the semester/Christmas/homework parties with the Agnes folk. These parties mostly consist of eating which has caused me to become a giant blob of blobby blobness that blobs around everywhere. But it is too much fun to stop! Self-control is lamesies!
  5. Watching Ultimate Proposal videos. Bhumi and I are obsessed. And it is amazing. I don't believe these proposals are real life. Helloooo, false high expectations for our futures, nice to meet you.
  6. Counting down to the Disney trip. One week. Time for hot chocolate and cookies and Mickey and the Osborne lights and happiness all around!
  7. Getting to remember what a great dog Cello was. I miss her so much more than I thought and the silliest things remind me of her. I thought of 100 more things about her that I will miss, but I decided not to add a part 2 to that sad blog because MC is all about celebrating the life so.. DOG, I am celebrating yer life.
  8. Dating Freddie and getting to hear his awesome laugh all the time. I would type it out to show you all how great it is but...
  9. Finally putting ornaments on our tree at home. It is b-e-a-utiful. Even if it's short. Don't tell MC I said that.
  10. Wearing THIS Christmas sweater and getting to have Santa with me at all times. BFFs for ever for reals.

p.s.- my roommate made a happy list awhile ago. Check it out. And gimme your lists!

February 10, 2011

10.

When I was chatting with my pal David Lettermen, err I mean watching him on TV, I decided this week's blog needed a top 10 list somewhere. I began brainstorming trying to do a top 10 for this past week (or, since it is only Thursday, the week that is still. going. on.), then I tried doing one for this coming week. In the end, I couldn't choose so this is the top 10 list of RIGHT NOW. Enjoy.

Emily's Top 10 List of Right Now:
please note: I was going to wait and post this tomorrow, but once I remembered today was February 10 I just couldn't pass up the cute coincidence.

1.

Joseph. My dear, sweet, slightly old brother is visiting  the 'Nan this weekend. We have scheduled his visit down to the minute with things to do and people to see (and places to eat--obviously the most important  part of the trip). Get your party pants on.

2.
In 16 days, I will be running at Disney. These little ladies look pretty happy running (and yes, I can tell that from the back of their heads). My reactions to running include:  Ow. My legs hurt. Seriously. I can't sit. How long have I been running? Only 5 minutes? How about now? Can. Not. Breathe. I tease (kind of). I am excitednervousanxious to run this 5k and run it good. Git-r-done.

I think my legs are just confused as to why I am not pirouetting and jetteing.

3.
This is just one of the 234565794 reasons I love my 'job.' Everybody together now, "Awwww..."

4.

This year for Valentine's Day, I have picked out certain family members to be my Valentines and requested lots of chocolate to be my gift. (Whaaat, you mean you don't get to pick your Valentine and request gifts?!)

5.

There have been two great Groupons recently: Partners II Pizza and Octane Coffee and Cocktails (a super cute new cafe in Newnan I've been eyeing, but somehow managing not to go to). As much as I prefer Scoutmob to Groupon, I must say good job Groupon, good job.

6.

This Sunday is my college roommate's (roommatesies 4eversies) senior recital. Has it really been four years?

7.

Punxsutawney Phil did not see his shadow this year. So, as I sit here in this freezing weather with layers and layers on my body and a space heater nearby, I am ever so hopeful that Mr. Phil was right and the madness (coldness, whatever same thing) will end very soon

8.

Picture a party hat on this cutie patootie Mr. Diddy because he's got a birthday coming up. And we party all night long when it's a Mr. Diddy party.

9.

We (Uncle John) have almost finished painting our house. We (Uncle John) are so excited. Whatever you do, don't call it purple. We (Uncle John) will come and get you.

10.

I've been trying to cook dinner more. This is really code for "yessss, my family and I are finally eating at the wonderfully decent time of 5:30 and I am so so so excited." Who said eating by 6 wasn't fun?

Guess what? It's dinner time, y'all. Night.
