happy camps-giving

There will be a bathroom there. I promise!

Famous last words, am I right? Oh I'm sorry, let me back up so you don't think I was scared to go in public in fear of bleeping my pants or something.

The very beginning of this story is that Freddie has been wanting to go camping. Actually the very, very beginning of this story is that I married a man who I thought was not into things such as camping in the middle of nowhere with no company but the bugs, however I was mistaken. Fast forward to just the very beginning and you'll find Freddie b-e-g-g-i-n-g me to go camping. All the time. For the past year.

It all started with a tent. After all, isn't that how most camping stories start? Freds researched and bought the best little tent that REI made, and then somehow within the next three to four months after that tent purchase we had a sleeping bag, lantern, flash light, and cast iron. All these hashtag camping necessities sat in our closet for months. And lemme tell ya, that's kind of where I preferred those items.

I tried my best to get out of camping. And listen, when I say I tried my best I really mean I pulled out all my tricks.

But you'd have more fun if you went with your male friends!
But I'll complain!
But we're busy for the next five weekends!
But I teach late on Fridays!
But you knew I wasn't an outdoorsy person when you married me! You want to divorce me?
But, but, but....

Pretty soon my brain ran out of but's and my butt was in the car on the way to a campsite. A campsite that was secluded enough so we could be away from light pollution, but also not so secluded that there wouldn't be a toilet and/or help for when the scary bad guys came to get us in our tents. <<<I've seen enough scary movies (read about three) to know that camping by yourselves in the middle of nowhere is stupid because the bad guys will find you and you will not survive (can you already tell how much fun Freddie must have been having at this point?)
fact: you can see about thirty-trillion-bazillion more stars out in the boondocks than you can in the city of Houston.

Spoiler alert: The toilet was on the other end of the campsite so thank goodness I practice Pilates and can squat. That's enough about that.

Now listen here, it pains me to say this (like what I must assume is childbirth level pain), but I kind of had fun.

Freddie's somewhere at work reading this saying, "I told you so!" for the fifty-sixth time since we've been together. Fifty-sixth millionth time, that is.
We had a tiny, sandy, muddy spot right on the Colorado River. Lupe loved running off. Freddie loved going to get some more wood for the fire (seriously, I think he said that a total of twenty times and didn't even sit down more than five minutes that night) (men, insert eye roll) (take away eye roll because that firewood kept me warm). I loved eating s'mores. Coyotes loved howling. Cows loved moo-ing. And well, everyone had just a dandy time in camp land.
fun fact: I skipped a rock TWICE. First time I've ever successfully thrown and skipped a rock before so uh, where's my trophy?
Stay tuned for the next Weiss family vacation when we go camping again to a spa. Wink.

Have you ever squatted in the woods before? Excuse my manners, have you ever gone camping before?

when in Chicago...

This time next week we'll be headed up to Wisconsin for my college roommate's wedding. A Fourth of July weekend wedding! A Fourth of July weekend morning wedding! Hello, brunch reception, don't mind if I do eat you up.

After the wedding festivities Ricky and I will be spending a few days in Chicago. In Chi-town. In the Windy City. The Second City. In the ::insert any and all other Chicago nicknames here::

I've never been to Chicago. Scratch that, I've flown through Chicago three times. The first time was when I was ten-years old and we had a layover in O'Hare. You better believe my best friend and I slow-mo ran through the airport pretending like we were in Home Alone because that's what you do when you're ten, really awesome, and in O'Hare. You could also do that at any age as long as you're awesome and in O'Hare, just fyi. People might stare at you more, but actually they won't because it's an airport and I feel like any actions are accepted in airports. Side bar: have you ever people watched and noticed just how many people are grooming themselves out in the open at airports? As someone who has flown way too much in the past fourteen months, I have seen lots of airport grooming, and I may have even partaken in said airport grooming at some point. Maybe.

Anyways.

Back to Chicago.

Today's Friday Five/Favorites/Fun is going to involve YOU telling ME where WE should go when we're in Chicago. Even if you haven't been there, I'd really appreciate it if you'd just do the research for me and tell me what we should do. That'd be great.

::insert winky face emoji here followed by serious face emoji::

Freddie likes baseball (annoyingly so) (spoiler alert: it's on the TV now as I'm typing this) (which isn't a big deal because it's always on our TV) (is there a 24-hour baseball channel? Because he'd watch it), and I like...food. Freddie likes food, too, but I think baseball wins right now. He likes beer, I like wine. He likes exploring, I like food again. And so on and so forth adding some more food in there.

What's good, Chicago?!
Here's a picture of us traveling, but not in Chicago. But traveling, nonetheless. So I'm a travel blogger now or something.

Happy Friday!

a love triangle

Charleston.
Oh, you beautiful, magical land of the Chucks.

I've been wanting to write a post like this for awhile. You know, one of those my heart is torn/I am emotional/hear me roar kind of posts.

You see, I love Houston. I really, really do. Moving is a huge change, but I feel like for what it was (a huge, ginormous, big, cross-country move) that we have adjusted fairly painlessly. Hashtag blessed.

Lately I've been missing the CUH-RAP out of Charleston. The crap. Like when people say they miss something so much it hurts --->that, in the least dramatic way possible, is how I have felt lately. Maybe the newness of the big move and a new city has worn off some, but whatever it is I was so bleep word excited to go visit Charleston last week!

So bleeping bleep excited.
I told Freddie that this quick Chawlston visit would either a) give me closure or b) make me even more sad. Don't worry, it didn't do either. It made me go with option c) all of the above.

We had just about 48 hours to fit in all of our favs. PSA: it is impossible to fit in all your Charleston favs into a 48 hour period. P.S. on the PSA: we did the best we could.

We shopped on King.

..and ate enough food to last our bodies for at least three more weeks.

So...is it possible to love two things at once? Because I truly, really do love living in Houston. I tell you I do, I do! I love the opportunities that are coming up for Pilates. I love that Freddie is in heaven at his new job. I love that we have a view of gorgeous downtown from our balcony. I love that we can eat the best, freshest tortillas ever. I love that we could explore every day for the rest of our lives, and still have new things to do here. I love it all (as obvious by the number of times I said the word love here...).

But, but, but...my love for Charleston, it runs real deep. It feels like home. I miss the familiarity. The people. The places. The life we had there. I miss trivia nights, and champagne cocktails at Rarebit. I miss driving two miles for Sunday Funday Beach day, and I miss the friendships and the kiddos I taught. I miss laughing on King St. while eating Jeni's (always eating Jeni's...), and dancing on Queen St. after performances.

But I love our life here in Houston.
WHAT EVEN, SELF?
My heart is split in two, I tell ya.

Change is good and I do believe we are where we are supposed to be.

...but I also believe that it's okay to admit that change is hard, and that you're kind of in love with two places. :)

Charleston, never change. I'll be back soon for that champagne cocktail.

Are you nosy and wanting to know what we ate while back home in Charleston? Because I'm always nosy and wanting to know where people ate when they are in foody cities.
Shrimp tacos and plantains at Fuel.
Cookies from King St. Cookies.
Cloister cocktails at Prohibition.
Champagne cocktails and catfish po-boys at Rarebit.
Burgers and truffle mac n' cheese are Coleman Public House.
Anything at Southernly.
Ice cream at Jeni's.

Over and out.

asheville done right

Well, well, well. Hello there! Long time no...type? I mean, I guess I could say long time no see because I literally have never seen (seen in person) most of you, but whatevs.

I am back from the East Coast (best coast?) land and lemme tell ya something...
You know when people come back from vacation so you ask them how their vacation was, and they go, Ohh darling, it was marvelous, but I feel like I need a vacation to recover from my vacation.  Giggle giggle and all that. Yeah, those people are just joking, but me. Me right now. I am SERIOUS about this. I need a vacation to recover from our vacation.

Need. I'm the only one who has ever been serious about that statement. Remember that.
Friend reunions plus family reunions plus one of my oldest and best friends getting married all equal no sleep and lots of wine. And chocolate. And talking. I'm pretty sure I sounded like a puberty aged male while trying to teach class yesterday morning. But squealing and giggling and screaming is just so necessary when reunited with old friends.

So while I'm sipping on my soda water (did you know that's pretty much all I drink? Fun Fact Sidebar: Edition I) (other than wine, of course) and watching Lupe unsuccessfully try to stay awake, I'm going to successfully stay awake and start throwing it back to...our weekend in Asheville.
Asheville weekend blog
hashtag no filter. hashtag i know, right?

Our friends from Charleston had planned on taking a fun mountain getaway and jokingly said Freddie and I should join them. Well folks, the funny thing about flying every eight weeks for Pilates training is that your airline points add up fairly quickly. We put those points to good use and hopped on a plane to North Carolina. Ya know, down south to the land of the pines so we could see our babies friends that night. - Emily and Old Crowe Medicine/Darius Rucker.

The cabin we stayed at was way, way, way high on a mountain. Think roller coaster going up before a big drop...that was us driving up to the cabin. The big drop would have been us falling off the tiny, straight-up-into-the-air roads and tumbling down the mountain. The view was well worth the near-death experience, as seen in the picture above ^^.

Since we had all planned on drinking in Asheville we decided that we should stay out all day and not return to our cabin until late that night when plenty of water had been consumed. Cue a Saturday full of Asheville fun and wine and stuff. The boys and girls separated for many reasons, but mostly because we females don't enjoy stopping by four breweries in one day, but we do enjoy stumbling upon random wine tastings and chocolate shops.

So enjoy my Oh, You Only Have 14 Hours in Asheville And Only Want To Go To One Brewery? No Prob. Guide to Asheville.

Start at Wicked Week Brewery. Just do it. Even if you don't like beer (me), you probably like food (me) and this place is pretty delicious.
Asheville weekend blog

If you are choosing the brewery lane on the game board then stop reading here. If you are choosing the non-brewery lane on the game board then keep on pluggin' on.

Start roaming the streets of Asheville and go into any and all stores. The more you go in, the more likely you are to stumble upon a random, free wine tasting.
Asheville weekend blog
Both Codorniu Cava wines we tasted were on different menus throughout the weekend. Which meant I ordered them and felt like a total bad you know what knowing the name and origin of said wine.

You should probably stop in both Mast General Store and The Chocolate Fetish. Because toys + chocolate = photo ops, and what kind of traveling bloggers would we be if we didn't stop in all the hot photo ops places?
Asheville weekend blog
Also stop at anywhere Hotline Bling is written. Because...you used to call me on my cell phone and stuff.

After five or six or twenty more shop stops you might realize that you have three hours to kill before dinner reservations. Might I become your new bar bestie by recommending you stop in at Sovereign Remedies. The ambiance is real and legit, and the drinks are real and delicious. And also legit. Win-win.
Asheville weekend blog

We had dinner reservations at The Junction and let me just take this moment to say yum.
Yum.
Yum!
Giant cornbread, pumpkin pie pork rind (what in the world?), gnocchi, and the most friendly staff ever. I take back my win-win from up there---The Junction was the total win-win of the weekend. I have no pictures of the food because we all stuffed our drinking-all-day faces, but I do have a picture of Leah, Bobby, and Adam looking so happy.
Asheville weekend blog
See? The Junction makes you happy and laugh-y. <<new word. Write it down.

There you have it. Fourteen hours of Asheville fun.
Oh, did I mention you should also order an entire bottle of champagne for dinner because it's the Codorniu Cava you tasted earlier?
No? Well I'm mentioning it now. Do that.

Up next: the best city on Earth!
hint: rhymes with Marlespun.

what's in a name?

I always knew I would change my last name when I got married. Actually it's not that I always knew that, it's really more like something I never thought about much. It wasn't a big deal. My brain was too full with Lizzie McGuire quotes to deal with things like future name changes.

We got married, and I did go on to legally change my last name. It was fairly painless and relatively quick to get rid of a name that I had had for decades. Just like that my legal name no longer contained Moore anywhere.

What. The. BLEEP?! Enter identity crisis mode. Who am I? What's my name? What do I say when people ask my last name? Do they think I'm lying? I mean it's legal, BUT I FEEL LIKE A MOORE! I'm a Moore! I'm Emily Moore. That's me. That's who I am.

Long yada yada story short, I never really felt like a Weiss. Whatever that even means, but look...I just didn't.

All of this changed for me this past weekend (read: I actually remembered to sign Weiss while signing a receipt this weekend. Big steps, people). We spent the weekend in Connecticut celebrating the marriage of one of Freddie's cousins. This means we spent the weekend in Connecticut surrounded by the most loving and fun group of people: the Weiss families.

Other than our wedding I had never been around Ricky's extended family. I don't even think our own wedding counted because it was like Hi, nice to meet you! Bye, I have to go talk to these other hundred and fifty people. Hi, oh we have to leave now? Bye? So yeah, that definitely doesn't count.
Hi. Love you, bye.

After this weekend suddenly everything about being a Weiss made sense. Lightbulb moment! You know what it takes to be a Weiss? A mix of always being ready for fun, having an A+ sense of humor, giving nice, big hugs, laughing every 5-6 seconds, and living life straight up ABBA Dancing Queen style (and 467 other great things, too). This family CAN and WILL dance and CAN and WILL out dance everyone else dancing.
So there. Now you know. Now I know. Golly gee, my new (ish) last name is a good one and my new (ish) family members are the best ones. I mean, is there anything better than family? Whether blood and/or name related or not. The answer is a big, fat HECKalicious no.

Brb, gotta go convince Freddie we need to have four plus children (in many moons from now) so we can keep having big Weiss family parties for all the years to come.

July 13, 2015

west coast, birthday coast

Remember last July when we came to California and I wrote a whole post about how that magical trip changed my life? Not dramatic at all (because it's not! Changed my freaking life! Pinky promise!). That trip is what spurred Freddie to find a job that made him happier. That trip is what spurred our adventurous spirits and we decided it would be fun to explore and live other places. That trip is, in my mind, kinda the reason we're here in Houston now. Freddie with a job he lurvey lurves and me pretending like I'm soooooo adventurous. Listen, I don't have to use Google maps anymore when I go to the grocery store. Take that, adventure. I win!

Well, I'm back! In the San D, Sunny Cali, that is. Cali, baby! West Coast, Best Coast and all that. One of my best friend's (WI!) birthday is two days before mine. Hey! Hold up, that means her birthday is today. Happy Birthday, Wi! We used to spend our birthdays together every year because hello, ballet camp. It's what the cool kids would do every summer.

2005 birthdays. Washington DC. Washington Ballet birthday girls.

Then we grew up (big ew) and Wi became a doctor in California while I became a wife and little Pilates trainee in Houston. That meant we didn't get to spend our birthdays together anymore. If this were a text I would take this opportunity to insert all the cry face emojis. Wah! Wah!

But we are together again for our birthday madness! Insert all the happy cry face emojis here. Eek! Eek! Excuse me while we watch birthday sunsets.
And eat birthday brunches.
And take birthday ballet classes (and feel like 60 year old birthday girls because ow. Take me back to full time dancing days), And probably eating some more birthday meals and maybe complaining about sore birthday ballet bodies. Oh dear, so much to do!

And yes, we will be recreating that picture up there since we are now ten years older and finally together again on birthday fun week. Spoiler alert: I have the same zits on my forehead and we both still look like small children.

Now it's time to party, West Coast style!

a how-to: road trip edition

Exactly a week ago I was road tripping from Georgia to Ohio with my family. Road trips are so our thing. Growing up we never flew anywhere, but we sure did drive everywhere (AND I WAS ALWAYS STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE BACKSEAT BETWEEN A CAR SEAT AND MY BIG TEENAGE BROTHER BECAUSE I AM THE MIDDLE CHILD, AFTER ALL). Which is why I am going to act like an expert and tell you things you should definitely do on road trips. You will read these things and be like Hold up, what an expert and/or genius this lady is! Then on your next road trip, kafreakingboom, you'll be road trip rocking it. Hair flip.

Step One:
Everyone always says hit up the gas stations and get yo self some car snacks. I agree with this statement; however, I will take it one step further. You should rack up on snack food, yes, but in order to really be a real road trip rock star you have to make excuses as to why you don't want to eat said car snacks and instead stop several times along the way to eat. Mo' money spent on mo' food? Worth it.
Step One And A Half: take selfies with your on-the-road-purchased food. Bonus points if your pre-roadtrip-purchased food makes it in the background of your selfie. You will notice that I did not earn bonus points here.

Step Two:
In an attempt to ignore your whatareyoudoingtome?!Igothealthycarsnackfoodsforareason stomach pains you should probably take a napsies...
but remember if you take a napsies then someone will more than likely document said napsies so it is better to be a napsies photographer than a napsies victim <<words by which to live.

Step Three:
You have to be willing to explore.
By this I mean you definitely have to misinterpret your Google Maps map and take the wrong turn so you can take a scenic route through Cincinnati. Because Cincinnati is pretty! Dangit, Google Maps! Don't you know how pretty Cincinnati is?! Let us drive through it! So we did.

And it was so pretty that I took zero pictures of that road trip step. Close your eyes and picture really pretty hilly, scenery, really calm and definitely not lost/freaking out people in a car, and delicious Chipotle. That is how I will forever and always picture Cincinnati in my mind.

Now go forth and use your new road tripping knowledge. Where are you road tripping this summer?
Because hey-oh! It should be Texas!

My best friend (BFFWWQAMADORTWM--best friend forever who wore Queen Amidala make-up and did other ridiculous things with me), Caroline, is getting married today. Today! Not tomorrow, not yesterday, but today!
In honor of such an exciting event I thought I would take everyone on a trip in my trusty ol' time machine.
translation: we are about to see some seriously old biffle wiffle pics of Miz Bride.

You're probably wondering why I'm not about to post pictures of her and her soon-to-be husband. Valid. But see, Caroline and I have been together going on fifteen plus years now so...I get these five pictures on Friday. Especially since we had matching not-wedding bands since we were ten. He can have the rest of her life as long as I get these five pictures. Deal.

one.
Ladies and gentlemen, we are taking it back. Back before Limited Too was a thing. Back when GapKids was where it was at. Our matching GapKids outfits are proof of this. This is the first documented picture of our lifelong, love you forever, hate you for never friendship.

two.
We went through this phase where we would do Queen Amidala make-up (don't play, you know what I'm talking about) and then take about fifty polaroids of our made up selves. So vain cool at such young ages! These beautiful Polaroids have yet to be found, so I'll give you this instead: Hairstyles by   Hoes, How To Look Good At Age Eleven.

three.
Pulling off those butterfly clips. That's my Caroline, always with the trends.

Why did I limit myself to five pictures again? I'm thinking Fifty on Friday has a much better ring to it than Five on Friday, right?

four.
Because the majority of our friendship has been confined to dance studios, here's a flashback to Beauty and the Beast. We're both the beauties, obviously.

five.
We just fast forwarded about five years between pictures four and five and you can already see that aging has been good to us. Dresses were also good to us, much better than butterfly clips and Beauty and the Beast costumes were to us. Matchsies rings for days.

CAN'T WAIT TO SEE YOU WALK DOWN THE AISLE TONIGHT!
(towards me...and maybe a little bit towards Dan...)

Also, pysch. I'm making it Six on Friday because I'm saptastic today. Saptastic Six on Friday.
Let's switch places and get chu married tonight. Over and wedding time out.

May 18, 2015

mother's day is every day

Musings from Saturday night:

My mom just left Houston. Freddie and I stopped for groceries. Now we're back and he's asleep on the couch. From the window I can see the sun setting over a cityscape. I'm up "high," six stories from the bayou, and as I look out at the big buildings and interstates I'm thinking...

holy poop, we moved.

Transitioning is a silly thing to do. You get worked up, anxious, excited, worried, excited again, worried again, and all with a touch of fear. Sometimes it feels like time will never ever speed up, but then all of a sudden you blink and the time has passed. Suddenly you're in Houston, your mom is gone, and it hits you like a ton of bricks: you have transitioned. Successfully. It happened. You survived. The sun is setting. Tomorrow is another day. Shoot, in just a few days it'll be Christmas, I'm sure!

But for now let's go back to the mom leaving part and the transitioning part. I could not have done any of this transitioning without my mother. Well excuse me, that is a lie. Technically I could have done all of it, but it would not have been half as graceful or fun without my mother. And really, what is the point of living if it's not to do things with grace and enjoyment (and with your mom)?

My mom left behind her work, her dad, my dad, my sister, and her precious puppies to drive across the country with/for me.
Then she drank with me on Bourbon Street.
Then she ate beignets with me.
Then she helped me unpack and decorate every inch of our new apartment.
Then she studied a map of Houston with me so we could act like we knew what the ham sandwich is going on in this city.
Even when we said IKEA was east of the city when the map claimed it was west...

Then she got a tattoo with me because why not? Finding a tattoo parlor in a new city is just as important as finding a grocery store.
Then she left.

And then I was left thinking, Dayum, I am really lucky when it comes to the mom department. Double dayum, am I going to be that rockstar of a mom/person some day?

Obvi, it's in my blood and all. Wink.

Hmmm, I guess what I'm trying to say is go hug your mom. Right now. Do it. Hug your mom or your dad or your friend or anyone who is amazing towards you. If you learn anything from this space of mine, learn that Mother's Day is every day and you should shower those you love with love and attention every day. Especially on the days when your mom drinks Hurricanes with you in NOLA. And the days she says Sure! Let's get a tattoo! And the days she drops everything to help you transition.

The End.

May 1, 2015

where in the world is emily sandiego?

First hint: I'm not in San Diego. Although now I kind of wish I was because...it's San Diego and San Diego is amazing.
Uhh-Ahh-mazing

Okay, but back to where I really am in the world.

Second hint: I am no longer in my beloved Chucktown. <---that was a much harder pill to swallow than I thought it was going to be. For months I have been Freddie's cheerleader like H-O-U-STON, I KNOW WHERE WE CAN HAVE SOME FUN. HOUSTON! YEAH, YEAH, GO HOUSTON! But then I had to actually leave Charleston and I had to actually say goodbye to lots of students and friends and I had to close a show and I had to watch the movers take out everything from our wonderful, beautiful apartment and I had to drive across the prettiest bridge one more time and basically the point of this run-on sentence is that sometimes it's okay to get in a good cry.
The farewell bridge drive

Third and final hint: I'm in the place I see in peaceful dreams where the road always leads me back to, which according to my buddy Ray Charles means...
If you guessed Jawjah then you are so right. If you guessed the more commonly known spelling of Georgia then you are partially right.

I'll make it out to Texas at some point. I gotta practice gettin' my hair up nice and high so it'll fit inside a cowboy hat. But really I'm in the middle of another weekend of Pilates teacher training. After that I'll be in the middle of getting my hair finally colored. After that I'll be in the middle of throwing my best friend a bridal shower and squeezing all my other friend's cheeks (both kinds). Somewhere in between all of those things I'll be in the middle of some ballet class taking and some Trader Joe's shopping.

And then, then I'll head to Texas where everything will be bigger and better. Except for my Rick Rick, it's impossible for him to get any better, obvi. I can't wait to squeeze his cheekies (both kinds, too).
For now I'll have to just take all the ridiculous FaceTime conversations that I can get.

Thanks for playing along with this week's game of Where In The World Is Emily Sandiego?
Come back next week to see if Emily has changed locations...the mystery never ends.

April 20, 2015

driving away at the end of the day

Saturday was a good day. It involved sleeping in, brunching, HomeGoods-ing, and even some Michael Buble singing while packing (me singing, Freddie eye rolling).

But then around four o'clock Freddie drove off headed on his journey to Houston.

Just like that, he was gone. I knew for two weeks this day was coming and I especially knew it was coming all Saturday morning and afternoon. It was the sense of urgency as I ate (read: devoured) my Eggs Benedict. It was the anxiety as I walked around a crowded HomeGoods (crowded meaning the entire population of Mt. Pleasant). It was the fluttering butterflies in my stomach the whole time I was singing The summer wind, came blowin' in from across the sea... all while trying to get Ricky to dance with me. Knots in your stomach+dancing+singing+packing+eating a chocolate chip cookie = total multitasking.

I held it together and was such a lady, let me tell you. No tears. No sad eyes. No pouts. Just lady-like smiles and hugs and hand holdings. We ladies wouldn't want to ruin our hair and make-up just by showing emotions, am I right?

But then after a long drawn out goodbye, and another 10 extra hugs and kisses, and one more Byeeeeee! yelled out from Freddie as he drove away I lost it.

Lost it like a freaking baby. I realize three and a half weeks is nothing when it comes to the grand scheme of time, but in that moment, the moment when this humongous, ginormous, grandiose life change officially began, I didn't care that it will only be three and half weeks until I'm there in Houston with Freddie. In that moment all that mattered was the boo hoo-ing. He's gone. This is the place where we came after the honeymoon. This is the place where we started our married life. This is the place where we walked on the cobblestone streets, sat on the beach, and brought friends to our favorite bars. This is place where we ordered lasagna pizza and bought cheap Trader Joe's wine for the best date nights ever. This is home.

After a good 90 seconds I pulled myself together and heated up some roasted sweet potatoes to eat. You see, that's the thing about Freddie. He knows how much I am obsessed with these roasted sweet potatoes so he made extra and put them in tupperware in the fridge. It's like he knew I would turn into a basket case for 90 seconds and would need some sweet pots. It's like he wants me to turn into a giant orange colored blob. It's like he takes care of me. Weird.

As I ate my sweet, sweet, roasty toasty potatoes I realized that I was crying happy tears, too. Happy that this is all working out. Happy that we get to be happy together. Happy that we are living life and experiencing new things and places. Happy that I can say YOLO about this big cross-country move. Happy that I can make Don't Mess With Texas jokes and act like I'm a Texan.

So I guess my point is that Saturday was really a good day after all. Because guys, you can totally be sad and happy at the same time. You can! It's called life, so let's live it.

Now go eat some sweet potatoes and thank me.
side note: I also bought some cereal and milk to survive off of, so you know. I'm rocking this single life thing.
